MY FIRST EVER POST

So this is my first ever blog post.  Ever since I was little I have loved to make things. After choosing a career path that requires very little creativity, I forgot how fun it is to create. On maternity leave, I have gotten the chance to re-explore my passion. I bought myself a sewing machine, without having the faintest idea how to use it. I bought myself yarn and knitting needles, not knowing how to read patterns. I am so grateful that I discovered blogland.

On this blog I will share with you some of the tutorials that I have tried to follow- some more successful than others... :) If I am able to recreate some of these beautiful things out there, anyone can. Thank you, everyone in blogland, and on pinterest for being such great inspiration! One day maybe I will even add something of my own:)

So, I think I should share with you my first project after investing in my Brother sewing machine. Just learning how to thread the sewing machine was a project in itself:)

The first tutorial I followed was a tutorial by Lindsey Cheney over at the pleated poppy for a crayon roll.  I loved the way the crayon roll looked. I would have loved to have one of those when I was a little girl.  The clear, step-by-step directions would have made the project straight forward, if it wasn´t for the fact that I had no clue how to use a sewing machine. It all went down well, until I made a mistake and I had to try to fix it, then i made another, and another. When i started to think that I was getting a hang of it, then the thread started puckering... you know the deal. Despite all this, I finally ended up with a cute crayon roll slightly modified from the pleated poppy tutorial. Even cute enough to give away to a 3 year old birthday girl:)
